Harley Daniel Leedy

Harley Daniel Leedy, 98, passed away October 6, 2012, at Autumn Healthcare in Mount Vernon.

He was born February 7, 1914 on the Richland-Knox County Line, a son of the late Ober and Elizabeth (Yarger) Leedy, and had spent his lifetime in the Knox County area. He was a farmer, worked at Cooper Bessemer for 18 years, and among the many jobs he held, his favorite was operating Leedy's Orchard near Gambier.

He was a man of faith and was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. His passion was nature and his garden always produced the best corn, which he shared with friends and family. He was never afraid of hard work and had the ability to fix almost anything. He was a member of the North Bend Church of the Brethren, and had been a member of the Millwood Presbyterian Church.

Harley is survived by his son Duane (Judy) Leedy of Mount Vernon, his daughter, Elaine (Jerry) Stull of Howard, grandchildren; Chris (Connie) Leedy of Cincinnati, Kevin (Kirsten) Leedy of Centerville, Brock (Julie) Stull of Clintonville, and Jara Stulll of Elyria, great-grandchildren, Brandon & Jillian Leedy of Cincinnati, Grace & Matt Leedy of Centerville, and Zachary &Alivia Stull of Clintonville, brother Edwin (Nila) Leedy of Fredericktown and sister-in -law Naomi Leedy of Fredericktown.

In addition to his parents, Harley was preceded in death by Ruby, his wife of 67 years, by his sisters Kathryn (Bob) Beer, Lulu (Harold) Schultz, and Mabel (John) Tharp, and his brothers Kenneth (Martha) Leedy, and Frederick Leedy.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 10 from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at North Bend Church of the Brethren, 24458 Orange Hill Road, Danville, with Patrick Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling the funeral services for the Leedy family.
