Coshocton- Harold Lewis "Louie" Smith, 61, of 1318 Oak Ave., died Friday, Sept. 25, 2009 at the Coshocton County Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
He was born Dec. 26, 1947 in Coshocton to Harold W. "Bill" and Elizabeth R. "Betty" Smith. He married Melissa A. (Shaw) Smith on May 1, 2004, whom survives. He worked at Peabody Coal for 14 years, and AK Steel for 18 years. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union #3462. He enjoyed traveling, dancing, and his two special dogs, "Gizmo" and "Jinx". He also loved spending time at his home in North Carolina.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa A. Smith of Coshocton, a daughter, Cindy (Rick) D'Ostroph of Coshocton, a son, Louie (Stephanie) Smith of Coshocton, two step-daughters; April (Christopher) Mealick of Buckeye Lake and Brooke Donaker of Coshocton, two sisters; Connie Smith and Edith (Robert) Harris both of Coshocton, six grandchildren; Nathan, Sydney Grace, and Syler D'Ostroph, Gage & Kamdyn Smith, and Cayden Mealick, two special nieces and two special nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with Rev. Everett Stoddard officiating. Calling hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28th.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice, Health Services of Coshocton, P.O. Box 1284, Coshocton, OH 43812, or to the Friends of the Animal Shelter, on Main St. in Coshocton.
