COSHOCTON- Harvey Chrisswell Crum, 64, of CR 23, died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011 after being involved in an automobile accident on SR 16.
He was born Jan. 24, 1947 in Akron to the late Clyde and Rose (Ries) Crum. After becoming deaf at age 3, he became a strong supporter of causes aiding the deaf community. He was the owner and operator of Crum's Body Shop, and was a volunteer for the Columbus Colony Housing for the Deaf. He served on the board of the Ohio School for the Deaf Alumni Association. He was an avid Ohio State fan, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary (Van Sickle) Crum, who he married Sept. 20, 1975. Also surviving is his daughter, Melissa (Nick) Hammersley of Coshocton, two grandchildren; Hannah Brown and Carter Hammersley, a sister, Belinda (Bill) West, and a brother, Terry Crum, both of Quaker City, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by an infant brother, John Crum.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with Rev. Craig Redecker officiating. Burial will follow in Coshocton Co. Memory Gardens. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
