Walnut Creek - Hazel Marie Farmer, 106, died Saturday May 3, 2008 at the Walnut Hills Nursing Home where she was a resident.
She was born September 25, 1901 in Dennison to the late Walter and Jennie (McKee) Farmer. She was a former school teacher, having graduated from Kent State University, and taught in Millersburg, Fredricksburg.
She is survived by nieces and nephews; June (William) Kapela of Texas, Daniel (Kathy) Farmer of Washington, Walter Farmer of California, William (Shane) Kapela, Jr. of Texas, Christine Farmer of California, and Soprana Kapela of Texas, also cousins; Glenn (Gertie) Mikesell, Eileen Burton, Naomi (Jim) Ashcraft, and Jean Dorcott Esselstein.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and their spouses; Cletus and Varelia Farmer, Bernard and Hazel Farmer, and Harris and Martha Farmer.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 11, 2008, at the Workman Cemetery in Danville. The Rev. Doug Sweet will officiate. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements. Information is available at www.fischerfuneralhome.com.
