Mount Vernon - Helen M. (May) Vertrees, 68, formerly of Danville, died Sunday April 22, 2012 at Country Court with her family by her side.
She was born August 16, 1943 in Homer to Claude and Lola M. (Compton) May. She was a 1961 graduate of Howard High School, and retired from Route 62 Drive-In, formerly big Al's, where she worked from 1986-2004. She enjoyed jig-saw puzzles and spending time with her grandkids.
She is survived by her children; Lisa (Robert) Dile, Bobby (Michelle) Vertrees, and Mona (Larry) Stimpert all of Danville, 7 grandchildren; Lindsey and Lauren Dile, Josh and Jordan Stimpert, Amanda (Zach) Inverso, Alizabeth (Ben) Colopy, and Ryan Lepley, 7 great grandchildren, sisters; Jean Long of Newark, Betty Mullins of Danville, and Delphia Wilson of Mount Vernon, a brother; Ralph (Fay) May of Howard, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son; Delmar, her former husband; Robert Carroll Vertrees, and 3 nieces.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday April 25, 2012 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville with Pastor Monte Vance officiating. Burial will follow in Workman Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
