Danville- Harold "Holten" Dye, 78, of Orange Hill Rd., died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008 as the result of an automobile accident at Danville-Amity & Monroe Mills Rds.
He was born April 8, 1930 in Mineral Wells, WV to Harold Holten Dye, Sr. and Genevieve (Fox) Dye. He married Alma (Frye) Dye on Sept. 16, 1950, whom survives. He was a 1949 graduate of Parkersburg High School. He retired from the Continental Can Co. He and Alma delivered newspapers for the Mt. Vernon News for over 30 years. He loved to hunt and fish, as his health permitted, and loved nature and farming. He was a longtime resident of Knox County and a member of the former Kinderhook Bow Hunters Club. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Althea (Chris Fletcher) Dye of Howard, a granddaughter, Amber (Matt) Ruth of Upper Sandusky, two sisters, one brother, special friends, Charley & Linda Elkins of Apple Valley, and many other good friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Ken Dye, two brothers, and two sisters.
Memorial donations may be made to any Emergency Squad of the donor's choice. This obituary was prepared, as it appears, in advance by Holten Dye.
A memorial service for Harold Holten and Alma Dye, will be held at 1:00 Saturday January 10, 2009 at the Danville United Methodist Church at 408 Market St. The Rev. Doug Sweet will officiate. Calling hours will begin 2 hours before the service.
