Ilah Jean (Nyhart) Staats

Mount Vernon - Ilah Jean (Nyhart) Staats, age 97, passed away at the Country Club Rehabilitation Campus on Friday January 19, 2024.

Ilah was born in Gambier on the Nyhart farm on October 20, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Jozie H. and Cleora (Lybarger) Nyhart. On November 27, 1946, she married Laken G. Staats, who preceded her in death in 2011. She was a lifetime member of the former Howard United Methodist Church and a Harrison Township Grange Member Since 1948. She was a homemaker, and also worked at Kenyon College and Ideal Dress Shop.

She is survived by her son, Duane (Judith) Staats of Westerville; grandchildren, Cinda (Daniel) Stutzman, Todd (Lindsay) Davis, Kelly Staats, and Kevin Staats; and great-grandchildren, Olivia Stutzman, Alex Stutzman, Ethan Davis, and Lillian Davis.

In addition to her parents, and her husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Beverly Davis in 2022.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 24, at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. Rev. David Havens will be officiating. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 9:00 until service time.
