Irene J. Wilson

DANVILLE- Irene Janette Wilson, 87, of Nashville Rd., died Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

She was born Feb. 7, 1929 in Wheeling, WV to the late Louis and Mabel (Mazingo) Hartlieb. She was a member of the Danville United Methodist Church and the church’s Women’s Society, and the Danville Garden Club. After her mother passed away, she raised her brother and sister, which was testimony to the selfless person she was. She always put the needs of others first and always was thinking of her family. She was known for her pies and baked goods at the church Bake Sales. Her kitchen had an “open door” policy, as she was always ready to feed anyone ready to eat. She enjoyed her flowers, cooking, baking, canning, participating at the County Fair, yard work, farming and raising calves, but she mostly loved her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, John R. Wilson of Danville, who she married Nov. 24, 1958; seven children, Margie (Bernie) Raab of Valley Grove, WV, Bob (Donna) Wilson of Mt. Vernon, Don (Jennifer) Wilson of Upper Sandusky, Henry (Dawn) Wilson of Danville, Doug (Laurel) Wilson of Danville, Joe (Kim) Wilson of Danville, and Pete (Cindy) Wilson of Danville; sixteen grandchildren; a brother, Carl (Elsie) Hartlieb of Valley Grove, WV; a sister, Joyce (John) Buckley of Hartford, CT; and several nieces & nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Hartlieb, Jr.; and two sisters, Louise Savage & Edna Pelkey.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 at the Danville United Methodist Church, with Pastor Lloyd Miller and Rev. Robert Alexander officiating.
