Iva M. Carr

Mount Vernon – Iva Marie Carr, 84, formerly of Danville, passed away on Wednesday August 28, 2024 at Country Court.

She was born in Columbus on March 17, 1940. On March 7, 1959, she was married to Virgil D. Carr, who preceded her in death on October 17, 2004. Also preceding her in death were her mother, Mary Marie McClain, and brothers, Albert Weaver and Norman Lowe. She was a longtime member of Greer Wesleyan Church, and retired after many years from Thompson Paper Products.

Iva is survived by her son, Dwaine Carr of Danville; daughters, Brenda (Tim) Strobert of Mount Vernon, and Sherry (Dan) Gatton of Danville; seven grandchildren, Michael (Erin), Joshua (Leah), Kelly (Wesley), Craig, Danielle “Dani” (Brian), Steven (Val), and Donna (Ryan); 13 great grandchildrem; and sisters, Charil (Chris) Fhurer, and Martha Lower.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31, at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. Pastor Joe Parsons will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time.
