MT. VERNON- Ivan Joseph Fausnight, 88, a resident of the Ohio Eastern Star Home, formerly of Howard, died Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the care center.
He was born Oct. 21, 1923 in Stark Co. to the late Samuel and Lola (Hershberger) Fausnight. He married Doris Marie (Cline) Fausnight on July 29, 1973, who survives. He served in the Merchant Marines from March 1943 to July 1944. He was a minister in the Brethren Church for 62 years, having been ordained out of Bethany Training School in 1945. He had a very creative and inventive mind, and he enjoyed drawing sketches and doing genealogy. He especially loved his time working with church youth groups and being a counselor at summer camp.
In addition to his wife, Doris M. Fausnight of Howard, he is survived by two sons; Paul Fausnight of Mt. Vernon, and Joseph Fausnight, Sr. of North Manchester, IN, six daughters; Mindy Fausnight of Mt. Vernon, Jennifer Klein of Howard, Linda Knapp of Florida, Rebecca McClaflin of New London, Delora Hoffman of North Manchester, IN, and Vesta Fausnight of Fort Wayne, IN, a son-in-law, C.C. Angle of Howard, twelve grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Allen Fausnight, and three brothers; Levi, David, and Samuel Fausnight.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville with Pastor Donald Matolyak officiating.
