James S. Buxton, Sr.
WARSAW - James Selby Buxton, Sr., 59, of 25472 Township Road 59 died Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born Jan. 24, 1950 in Coshocton to the late Francis E. and Grace (Porteus) Buxton.
He was a rural mail carrier for the Coshocton Post Office. He was serving as president of the Coshocton Branch of the National Rural Letter Carriers Assn. and was also their former state secretary. He was a former secretary for the Columbus District Rural Carriers Quality of Work Life Team. He was a member of the Nellie Chapel United Methodist Church, the Bethlehem Grange, and a member, past president, and currently serving as treasurer of the Warsaw Lions Club. He was also serving as District 13G Lions Cabinet Secretary-Treasurer. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Jim was a 1968 graduate of River View High School.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Holeski) Buxton, whom he married Feb. 16, 1974.
Also surviving are two daughters, Amanda (Tony) Aelker of Marion and Charity (Mike) Danjczek of Monroe, CT. Two sons, Jim (Kecia) Buxton of Warsaw and Zane (Cindy) Buxton of Columbus. Grandchildren, Luciana Aelker, Joshua, Kaylah, & Sasha Danjczek. His mother, Irene Buxton of Warsaw. A sister, Susan McCurdy of Warsaw and a brother, Robert Buxton of Nellie.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margery Buxton.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with Ray Griffith officiating. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery at Warsaw. Visitation is Wednesday. April 22, 2009 from 5-8 P.M. and until service time on Thursday. The Warsaw Lions Club will hold a memorial service at 7:45 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
