VERMILION - James Alan Goodhart was born on January 5, 1956, to John and Kathleen Goodhart in Providence, Rhode Island. James, otherwise known as Jimmy, Jimbo, or Nim Nim, was delivered after a very difficult birth that left him profoundly brain damaged and physically crippled. Jimmy went home to be with Jesus on September 28, 2025.
Jimmy was a light and a joy to know. He brought much joy to his family and lived at home for 35 years. In 1991 he became a resident of Echoing Hills Village in Warsaw, Ohio. From there he resided in the Emerson Home of Echoing Hills in Vermilion where he had many friends and was well loved and cared for. The family is profoundly grateful for the care he received all these years at Echoing Hills.
Jimmy loved music, putting puzzles together, watching baseball on TV and the Lion King movie. He loved going to church and hearing praise music and he would point to his heart and say “Jesus”, because Jesus was his Lord and Savior. Jimmy was predeceased by his mother Kathleen and his father John. He is survived by his older sister, Esther Cole of New Jersey, his older brother John Goodhart of Montana, and his younger sister, Karen Riedy of Pennsylvania.
Jimmy is no longer bound to his wheelchair, but is now running through the Streets of Gold and singing praises with all his heart.
