James A. Jones
FRESNO- James Alexander Jones, 87, of Fresno, died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 in Homestead, FL.
He was born June 21, 1923 in Cleveland, OH, to Wilbur H. and Mary (Alexander) Jones. During WWII, Jim served in the Pacific Theater with the 543rd Army Engineers. He worked for Ohio Bell for 34 years in Cleveland and nine years as a district manager for AT&T in New York City and Basking Ridge, NJ.
Jim served as Past Executive Director of the Lake-Geauga Narcotics Unit; past President and 50-year member of Cleveland Crime Clinic; and former township trustee, volunteer firefighter and rescue squad member in Kirtland, OH. After retirement he served in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and was a member of the VFW Post #65 and the Coshocton County Airport Association. Jim was a horse trainer, private pilot, and RV enthusiast who enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie (May) Jones whom he married August 31, 1946; daughter Debra Endsley of Coshocton; son Bruce Jones of Geneva; five grandchildren: Jocelyn (Robert) Mulvaney , Chad (Katy) Endsley, Todd (Leanne) Endsley, Nicholas Jones, and Barry Jones; two great-grandchildren: Caroline and Lily Endsley.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Andrew P. Jones.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with Rev. Charles Warren officiating. Burial will be in Keene Cemetery with graveside military services conducted by the Coshocton County Joint Veterans Council. Visitation is Tuesday, February 22nd from 5-7 p.m., .and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
