HOWARD- James Joseph Lehane, 92, died Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Country Club Retirement Center in Mt. Vernon.
He was born Oct. 8, 1931 in Cleveland to the late James Joseph and Lena (Gallagher) Lehane. He served in the US Army from 1948-1951, teaching cadets at West Point Academy as an instructor of tank operations during the Korean conflict.
Jim was a barber for 18 years, worked in sales, and finished his working life as a bailiff at Berea Municipal Court. Over the years he also helped in the construction of many homes, including his own, as a self-taught general contractor.
He loved to sing for any occasion, some professionally for funerals, weddings, and other events. He sang as a member of the Cleveland Diocesan Choir, his church choir in Cleveland, and the Apple Valley Singers for many years.
Jim is survived by his wife of 70 years, Rosemarie (Biacsi) Lehane of Howard, whom he married Jan. 16, 1954; his children, Kathleen (Steve) Albanese of Marysville, James J. Lehane Jr. of Olmsted Falls, Michael Lehane of Columbia Station, Patricia Hoffman of Olmsted Falls, Daniel Lehane of Grafton, Timothy Lehane of Columbia Station, and Charles Lehane of Fairview Park; many grandchildren & great-grandchildren; and many cousins & in-laws.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Kelly Lehane.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 307 N. Market St. Danville, OH 43014, with Father PJ Brandimarti officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will take place at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery in Cleveland. Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements.
