Danville - James Ronald "Ron" Lyons, 70, died on Friday August 8, 2014.
He was born March 17, 1944 in Zanesville to Paul and Vioma (Fox) Lyons. Ron was a retired Well Tender with Columbia Gas, where he worked for 28 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #199.
Ron was obsessed with the Ohio State Buckeyes, loved fishing, playing golf, and walking the beaches of South Carolina.
He is survived by a daughter, Gail Lyons of Dover, a son, Jim Lyons, his significant other, Beverly Summerfield, and her daughter Amanda, brothers; Paul (Sandy) Lyons, and Larry Lyons, sisters; Donna Thompson, Janet (Darrell) Baney, Karen Lake, Marilyn Fletcher, Laura (Terry) Strouse, Darlene Leber, and Christina (Jim) Hunt, many grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Leona Erow, and an infant half-sister, Mary Lyons.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens, on Thursday, August 14, with Pastor Sheila Kent officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
Calling hours will be from 6-8 Wednesday at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville, with a Masonic service at 7:45. Information is available at www.fischerfuneralhome.com
