COSHOCTON- James J. “Slick” Mizer, 76, died Thursday, July 31, 2025 at his residence.
He was born Sept. 20, 1948 in Spring Mountain to the late Donald Leo and Hazel Faye (Shaw) Mizer. He was an employee of Kokosing Construction from 1984-2009.
Slick was an original member of The Shack. He was also a lifetime member of the Coshocton Co. Sportsman’s Association. He enjoyed farming sweet corn, hunting, fishing, playing euchre, and helping Colt Kaser on the farm.
He is survived by his companion, Sherry Anderson; three children, Kelli Darr, Jesse (Rebecca) Mizer, and Bill (Annette) Mizer; grandchildren, Mitchell & Nathan Darr, Kayla, Waylon, Weston, & Walker Mizer, Josh & Ally Matheny, and Brock (Kyle) McCoy; great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Jacobs, Koda Chappelear, Cooper Mason, and Ayla, Krew, & Knox McCoy; brothers, Dick (Carol) Mizer, Larry (Violet) Mizer, Tom Mizer, and Jack Mizer; a sister, Peggy (Greg) Wilson; a sister-in-law, Judy Mizer; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Gary Mizer, Sr., Lewis Mizer & Steve Mizer; a sister, Faye (William "Bill" Jr.) Harding; a son-in-law, Kody Darr; and a great-grandchild, Connor Mason.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025 at Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Pastor Sheila Kent officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery. Visitation is from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. FischerFuneralHome.com
