COSHOCTON- James David "Jim" "Hambone" Sampsel, 75, of TR 26, died Friday May 10, 2013 at Akron City Hopsital.
He was born Aug. 12, 1937 in Medina to the late Harold and Mary M. (Coudret) Sampsel. He was raised by his step-mother, Georgia Sampsel, who preceded him in death. He was a retired stone mason and brick layer, which he did for over 45 years. He was an avid mushroom hunter, and a huge Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He was a member of the Coshocton Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #761, and the International Brick Layers Union.
He is survived by two sons; Jim (Kandy) Sampsel and Neil (Kendra) Sampsel, both of Coshocton, a daughter, Darlene Wilt of Atlanta, GA, ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two brothers; Bernie (Vonita) Sampsel of Mineral City, and David Sampsel of New Philadelphia, six sisters; Vickie (William) Wells of Walhonding, Bonnie (William) Matheny of Warsaw, Valerie Mathias of Warsaw, Brenda (Jeff) Walters of Canal Fulton, Mary E. Lint of Warsaw, and Joann Page of Dover, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and step-mother, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Raymond and Bob Wilkshire, and a brother-in-law, Larry Mathias.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday May 15, 2013 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with Pastor Don Lain officiating. Burial will follow in Darling Run Cemetery, with graveside military rites performed by the Coshocton Co. Joint Veterans Council.
