James D. Teeter

Danville - James D. Teeter, 72, passed away Sunday February 12, 2012 at the Ohio State University Medical Center, following a brief illness.

He was born March 15, 1939 to Floy (Coss) and Ralph Teeter. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1960. On June 19, 1976, he was married to Shirley (Rice).

He was a member of the AmVets Post 95 and the Moose Lodge 2555 in Mount Vernon, and retired after 16 years with the City of Mount Vernon Water/Wastewater Department. His interests included playing guitar, singing, and painting. He also enjoyed traveling and family time.


He is survived by his wife; Shirley, a brother; Larry Teeter, and a sister; Martha Levengood, his children; Julie Davison, Lesa (Jesse Zickefoose) Elliott, Richard (Mary) Drake, and Robert (Lisa) Stribling, his grandchildren; Helena Parke, Sly Hartley, Chris Drake, Cameron Drake, Candy Thorpe, Keith Drake, Kane Elliott, and Hollie Elliott,and 8 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son; James D. Teeter, and his parents; Ralph Teeter and Floy Balcom.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday February 16, 2012 at the Danville Church of Christ on Danville-Jelloway Rd. Matt McManaway will officiate. Burial, with military rites from the Knox County Joint Veterans Council, will follow in Workman Cemetery in Danville.
