Newark - Jean E. Holt, 93, of 2116 Valentina Lane, died Thursday December 2, 2010 at the residence.
She was born August 27, 1917 in Canton to Charles F. and Alice (Davies) Klein. She received her teaching certificate at the Kent State University, and retired after 29 years of teaching at Tiverton, Warsaw, and Danville schools. She married Harold G. Holt on June 8, 1941. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2003. Jean was a member and organist for many years at the Danville United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Retired Teachers' Association, and the Danville Garden Club.
She is survived by her daughter; Marilou (Ed) Tonnesen of Newark, sons; Jerry C. (Susan) Holt of Willow Street, PA, and Daniel D. Holt of Sacramento, CA, five grandchildren; Chris (Marie) Holt, Jessica (Jamie) Blattner, Miriam (Scott) Cassell, and Laura and Emily Holt, and a great-grandson, Luke Blattner.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister; Pauline.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday December 6, 2010 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. Rev. Jason Humble and Chaplain Tom Myers will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. Visiting will be one hour prior to the service.
