Bladensburg – Jettie Lodema Ward, 85, passed away at her daughter’s home in Danville on Sunday November 1, 2020.
Lodema lived her life with a sincerity and compassion to serve and help others. She served the Bladensburg community through her involvement in organizing both school and community events. For many years, she was part of the Benevolence Committee and the Circle of Friends at the Bladensburg Church of Christ where she was a long time member. She was also a member, and past President, of the Clinton Commandery Auxillary, and retired after 31 years as a school teacher with the East Knox District.
She was born in Avondale, WV on December 5, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Joe Ed and Nellie Ellen (Smith) Christian. She was the widow of the late Arthur C. Ward, who preceded her in death in 1999. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Rita Darlene Ward, her sons, Samuel and I. Craig Ward, and her grandson, John Edward Ward.
Surviving is her daughter, Linda (Tony) Mickley, grandchildren, Addison and Aidan Mickley, and daughter-in-law, Lisa Ward of Danville.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 5, at the Bladensburg Church of Christ. Ben McKinstry will officiate. Burial will follow in Bladensburg Cemetery. Calling hours will also be at the church from 5-7 Wednesday evening. COVID-19 precautions will be observed.
