Joann C. (Chambers) Thompson

Beavercreek, OH

BEAVERCREEK – Joann (Chambers) Thompson, 91, died Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at the Dayton Hospice House.

She was born Dec.24, 1928 in McConnelsville, Ohio to the late G. Harold and Thelma Alice (Hayes) Chambers.

Joann graduated from the Ohio State University, and was retired school teacher.  She was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Assn. and the Ohio State University Alumni Assn.  She sang in a choir for many years in Arizona before returning to Ohio. She enjoyed music, counted cross-stitch, crossword puzzles, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

She is survived by her daughters, Lee Anne Osborne of Fairborn, and Susan (Phillip) Shaw of Xenia; three grandchildren, Ryan & Erin Hensley of Gilbert, AZ and Tyler Shaw of Xenia; a sister, Emily (John) Haynes of Granville; a step-son, H. Dewey (Lisa) Thompson of Coshocton; two step-grandsons, Jordan & Justin (Grace) Thompson of Coshocton; nephews, Jim (Shirley), Bill (Eileen), & Richard (David) Vogt, and Scott (Holly) Haynes; nieces, Nancy (Bob) Patton & Ann (Mark) Morscher; and several great-nieces & great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 28 years, Henry E. Thompson, whom she married June 23, 1990, he died April 3, 2018.  She was also preceded in death by her previous husband, Howard E. Haynes, a sister & brother-in-law, Mary & Neal Vogt; and a son-in-law, Sonny Osborne.

A memorial service will be held at the Coshocton Presbyterian Church on Friday, Sept. 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Karen Crawford officiating. Burial of Joann & Henry Thompson’s remains will follow at South Lawn Cemetery, with graveside military rites for Henry performed by the Coshocton Co. Joint Veterans Council Honor Guard. The Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw is handling arrangements. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
