Coshocton – John A. Gray, 76, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at his residence.
He was born May 8, 1939 in Lynn, MA to Harry J. and Rose Marie (LeBlanc) Gray. On July 27, 1958, he married Nancy Gilbert. John served in the U.S. Air Force, and was the pastor at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for all but 3 years from 1983 to early 2014. He was also a contractor, owning and operating John Gray and Sons for over 25 years.
He loved traveling, especially west, but his passion was steam engines and trains. He enjoyed everything about them, from riding to collecting.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, and his mother, Rose, both of Coshocton, his children; Denise (Thomas) Evans of Orlando, FL, Michelle (Lane) Teater and Jonathan (Heather) Gray both of Coshocton, and Daniel Gray of Thornville, 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a brother, Robert (Meredith) Gray of Plaistow, NH, several aunts and uncles in Canada, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, a son, Randy, and a great grandson, Brandon Kelsey.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 19th at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw. Pastor Chris Cutshall will officiate. Burial, with military honors performed by the Coshocton County Joint Veterans Council Honor Guard, will follow in Branch Cemetery in Jackson Township. Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday the 17th.
