John D. Staser, Sr

WARSAW - John Dennis "Johnny" Staser, Sr., 79, of US 36 died Nov. 16, 2010 at his son Jeff's home.

He was born April 17, 1931 in Blissfield to the late Walter Charles and Alta Mertilla (Williamson) Staser.


Johnny was a retired barber having worked many years at the Baugher-Staser Barber Shop in Mount Vernon and Staser's Barber Shop in Warsaw. He was U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member and past commander of the Warsaw American Legion Post #634 with 55 years of service. He was a VFW member,he was a 50 year member of the Warsaw Masonic Lodge #255, a former Jefferson Township Trustee, and he attended the Clark Township Baptist Church.

He is survived by a daughter, Jody (Tim) Cox of Coshocton. Three sons, John Staser, Jr. of Warsaw. Jeff Staser and Jay Staser of Coshocton. A sister, Janice (Dave) Ulry of Upper Arlington. Five grandchildren, Dr. John (Dr. Deborah) Staser, Joe Staser, Andy Cox, A.J. Cox, and Ashley Cox.

He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn (Croft) Staser, who he married Jan. 4, 1952, she died Aug. 30, 1997. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Shrimplin and Lila Garver . A brother, Edgar Staser, and a granddaughter, Aften Staser.

A public graveside memorial service for family and friends will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Valley View Cemetery at Warsaw with Pastor Randy Gardiner officiating. A masonic graveside memorial service will be held a 10:30 a.m. at the cemetery. Graveside military services will be conducted by the Coshocton County Joint Veterans Council.

A time of food and fellowship for family and friends will be held following the service at the Walhonding Valley Fire Dept. in Warsaw.
