Jonathan C. Atwood

       WARSAW- Jonathan Carl Atwood, 44, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2026 at his residence.

       He was born May 15, 1981 in Coshocton to Trecia J. (Dilly) Atwood. Following River View High School (Class of 2000), he joined the Army, achieving the rank of SFC, and served until his retirement after a 20-year career. He was part of the "Iron Soldiers" (1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division based out of Fort Bliss, TX) including four tours in Iraq and Southwest Asia. He received many medals of service and commendation, including a Purple Heart.

       Following his military career, Jonathan worked with Ashton Haines at his heavy equipment company for a few years, and served recently as a Tiverton Township Trustee. He also volunteered with the Coshocton Co. Joint Veterans Council Honor Guard.

       He was a history buff, especially collecting WWII memorabilia, a hobby he shared with his son, Darian. He loved traveling locally and abroad with his family. No matter where he was, you would find him in his cargo shorts and a Hawaiian shirt from his collection. He loved his children, and spoiled them at every opportunity. He was selfless, always willing to help those around him that needed it.

       Jonathan is survived by two children, Drake Atwood and Dezlynn Atwood, both of Warsaw; two grandchildren, Trusten and Asher Atwood of Warsaw; his mother, Trecia Atwood of Coshocton; his father, Dave (Ann) Laughlin of Coshocton; his brothers, Anthony (Danielle) Atwood, Todd McCoy, and Dustin (Angela) Anderson; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

       He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Stanley Atwood; and a son, Darian David Atwood.

       Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw. Burial with military honors will follow at Dutch Run Cemetery. Visitation is from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home on Saturday. A live stream of the funeral will be available at service time on this page for those unable to attend.
