Danville - Joseph Lee Hauger, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at the Country Court Nursing Home in Mount Vernon.

Joe was born in Danville on July 25, 1928, to Charles Dwight and Audrey (Taylor) Hauger. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1946-48. He was a graduate of The Ohio State University, and worked his entire professional career in banking. He started as a teller at the Danville Bank, and retired as the assistant manager of the Danville branch of First Knox National Bank. He was a member of the Danville United Methodist Church, including being a long time treasurer, the Danville Lions Club, and was past Grand Master of the Danville Masonic Lodge.

Joe was devoted to his family, especially his parents, caring for them at home until their death. As an enthusiastic golfer, he was active in several local golf leagues as long as his health allowed. He was also an avid supporter of Danville Schools and sports, and a loyal fan of Ohio State Athletics, the Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers, never missing a game.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Glen, and sister-in-law, Janice Hauger, two nephews; Jack White and Mike Martin, and a great niece, Julie Jones.

Surviving are four nieces; Gina White of Wellington, Marsha Hauger of Mount Vernon, Anita Martin of Danville, and Brenda Durbin of Dublin, two nephews; Mike (Chris) Billow and Dwight Hauger of Danville, and over 30 great nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Noon on Saturday, October 25, at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. Rev. Tom Orr will officiate. Interment will follow in Workman Cemetery, with military honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
