Joyce A. Hawk

December 28, 1945 — July 27, 2017

Danville - Joyce Ann (Krier) Hawk, 71, passed away at 8:30pm Thursday evening July 27, 2017 surrounded by her loving family after a 2 year battle with ALS.

Joyce was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend to many.  Her joyful spirit, strong faith in God and love for others was a gift to all who met her.  She asked for prayers for the gift of joy in her suffering;  God provided that in amazing ways throughout her struggle.

Joyce was born December 28, 1945 in Philo, Ohio to John Russell and Mary (Godfrey) Krier.  As a graduate of the Good Samaritan School of Nursing in Zanesville at the top of her class, Joyce married Ronald Hawk in February of 1966 and moved to Danville.  Together they owned and operated Danville Feed and Supply.  She was a member of the St. Luke Catholic Church in Danville, where she was active with the PCCW, and served as the first female President of the Parish Council. She was also a long time volunteer for the Hot Meals Program, and supporter of the Danville Athletic and Band Boosters.

A devoted wife and mother to 5 kids and 17 grandchildren, she is survived by her loving husband Ronald J., daughter Michelle Winings,  sons: Michael (Kathy) Hawk, Marc (Tonya) Hawk, David (Kim) Hawk, Doug (Mariah) Hawk, seventeen wonderful grandchildren; her brother, James Krier of Granville, sister Kay Swickard of Buckeye Lake, and sister-in law, Fay Krier of Duncan Falls.  Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Phil Krier.

The family would like to especially thank the many caregivers for their exceptional love and commitment to Joyce that enabled her to remain in her home over the past several months.  Thank you to Hospice of Knox County for their compassionate support.

A  mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 31 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Danville. Father Vincent Nguyen will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Luke Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4-7 on Sunday at the church.

Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Knox County, 17700 Coshocton Rd. Mount Vernon, 43050, and at hospiceofknox.org, or to St. Luke, PO Box P Danville, 43014. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements. fischerfuneralhome.com
