Judith Ann Van Dyke

February 7, 1952 — June 2, 2016

Danville – Judith Ann (Julian) Van Dyke, proudly, and most importantly known as “Ma”, passed away on Thursday June 2, 2016 with her family by her side, still fighting, at The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital.

She was born in Mount Vernon on February 7, 1952 to George Joseph and Dorothy Ann (Burris) Julian. She was a 1970 graduate of Danville High School, where she was a cheerleader and Homecoming Queen. She was a bus driver for Danville schools, and also a substitute teacher at the Knox County Career Center.

Still gone too soon, Judy defeated all odds by fighting a courageous battle with stage 4 ovarian cancer for over 5 years, never complaining, always smiling, and always ready to go anywhere her family might be going for the day. Her body wasn’t as strong as her heart and soul though. She loved her husband and family more than anything in the world. Her greatest treasure was her grandbabies and being the best Ma anybody could ever wish to have.

They called her first thing every morning, were normally together all day, and always called to say good night and say their prayers together when they were not spending the night with her as they so loved to do. They loved working in her flower beds with her, doing crafts, making jewelry, and just being with her and ending their busy days together with a sleepover and breakfast in bed. Her world revolved around being with her family.

Judy is survived by her husband, Timothy Van Dyke, her children; Kari (John) Ball and Kevin (Angie) Wise, her grandkids; Julian Ann and Joseph Christopher Ball, and Emma Grace and Jake Oliver Wise.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral service will be held on Monday June 6 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. Burial will follow in Workman Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
