WALHONDING- Kenneth E. Martin, 79, of CR 367, died Sunday Aug. 5, 2012 at Knox Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
He was born June 6, 1933 in Aleppo Twp, Green Co., PA to the late Samuel and Ruth (Lohr) Martin. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. He was a member of the Perry Chapel Baptist Church, and was very active in the church Ol' Timers group which he enjoyed tremendously. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family dearly, and they were by his side when he was called Home.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joretta (Cummings) Martin of Walhonding, who he married July 16, 1955. Also surviving are three sons; Daryl (Carol) Martin of Walhonding, Gary (Debbie) Martin of Ft. Smith, AK, and Rodney (Amy) Martin of Walhonding, a daughter, Lisa Martin of Zoar, eleven grandchildren; Jason (Dawn), Joshua (Melanie), Justin, Sean (Liz), Jeremy, Kyle, Tod (Chelsie), Kaitlyn, Hayden, & Ben Martin, and Megan (Kevin) Coleman, five great-grandchildren; Brianna, Elizabeth, Kenneth, & Olivia Martin, and Adam Coleman, two step-great-grandchildren; Caleb & Jospeh Fowler, a sister, Blanche Courtwright of Wind Ridge, PA, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Don Martin, and two sisters; Betty Jo Riggle, and Wretha Tedrow Rucker.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday Aug. 11, 2012 at the Perry Chapel Baptist Church, 19476 TR 380, Warsaw, OH 43844, with Pastor David Fowls officiating. Burial will follow in the Perry Chapel Cemetery, with graveside military rites performed by the Coshocton Co. Joint Veterans Council. Calling hours are from 4-8 p.m. Friday Aug. 10th at the church, and also one hour prior to service time on Saturday.
