MOUNT VERNON - Irvin Lawrence "Larry" Grassbaugh, Sr., 76, of Granville Road died July 16, 2014 at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville.

He was born March 12, 1938 in Mount Vernon to the late Irvin E. and Eloise Dorothia (Blubaugh) Grassbaugh.

He was a retired long distance truck driver. Larry was a certified ASA Umpire which he enjoyed very much. He was a member of the Gambier Fishing Club. He loved his family dearly. He loved to garden and fish and loved his water pond. He served as a former volunteer firefighter with the Danville Fire Dept. and was a member of the St. Luke Catholic Church in Danville.

He is survived by his wife, Alice (Meehan) Grassbaugh, whom he married April 27, 1956. Also surviving are five children, Irvin L. Grassbaugh, Jr. of Mount Vernon, Melinda C. (Robert) Tharp of Mount Vernon, Steven D. (Sheila) Grassbaugh of Fredericktown, Diana B. Grassbaugh of Mount Vernon, and Susan M. (Michael) Hines of Mount Vernon. 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Three brothers, Brent (Pam) Grassbaugh of Howard, Monte (Kim) Grassbaugh of Danville, and Neil Grassbaugh of Fort Recovery. A sister, Susan (Leland) Zollars of Fredericktown. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins. And his beloved cat, Missy.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Devin Marie Grassbaugh, and a brother, Bradley Grassbaugh.

Funeral mass will be held Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Luke Catholic Church in Danville with Father Homer Blubaugh officiating. Burial will be in the St. Luke Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, July 18, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
