Linda N. Sheldon

June 16, 1955 — August 16, 2024

Centerburg, OH

Linda Nadine (Miller) Sheldon, age 69, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Friday August 16, 2024 at Centerburg Pointe Nursing Home after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born to Bill and Bonnie (Hartman) Miller on June 16, 1955, Linda was a lifelong resident of Danville, Ohio. She was raised to value community and to love music. Linda exemplified her upbringing through years of volunteering for Danville Local Schools and a passion for country and bluegrass music, which continued to bring her comfort in her final hours. She was a 1973 graduate of Danville High School before attending The Ohio State School of Cosmetology and finishing top of her class earning the Gold Award in 1974.

On April 5, 1975, Linda married Terry Sheldon. Together they raised two daughters, Tara and Tanya. Linda’s love of country music, The Grand Ole Opry, and the beautiful smoky mountains of Tennessee led their family on annual trips to Nashville or Pigeon Forge where they created lasting memories of better days prior to health issues later in life. Linda treasured living on Terry’s grandparents’ farm on Flat Run Road in Danville from 1988 until 2015 where she took great pride in planting flowers, entertaining guests, and hosting parties celebrating family members’ accomplishments. Some of her greatest years and memories are from the decade of the 1990s when she served as the Danville High School cheerleading advisor, athletic booster president, band booster president, and assistant athletic director. She also worked as a paraprofessional for special needs children at Danville Local Schools before enjoying several years as a waitress at The Hangout in Danville. Though she suffered from the physical constraints of Parkinson’s, Linda could still be found in her kitchen baking a pie or outside on the farm planting flowers.

Linda and Terry had two great loves of their lives–their grandchildren, Cade Joseph Strausbaugh and Maria Crystine Scarazza. While their years with their grandchildren were short, their love for them was not. Cade represents the love of community and a family farm. Maria, a love of music and performing arts. Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Sheldon on September 2, 2018; her grandparents, Amos and Della Miller and John and Mary Hartman; her parents, Bill and Bonnie Miller, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Floyd and Edna Sheldon. She is survived by her daughters, Tara (Tom) Scarazza of Mount Vernon and Tanya (Buck) Strausbaugh of Danville; her grandchildren, Maria Scarazza and Cade Strausbaugh; her sisters, Wendy (Keven) Aune of Howard and GiGi (Robert) Larsen of Verdigre, Nebraska; her nephews Chris (Lindsey) Colopy, Luke Colopy, and Trevor (Emily) Phillips, as well as dear friends she made while a resident at Centerburg Pointe.

To honor Linda’s life, her family asks that you serve your community and local school, cheer for your home team, or sing a joyful song. She always loved the hymn, “Precious Lord, Take My Hand.” The beauty in eternal life is Linda no longer needs another hand to help her walk. She is free from the pain and suffering of this earthly life and is strolling the streets of Heaven with the strength and vibrance she had in her younger years.

Contributions can be made in Linda’s memory to OSU Extension Office Knox County 4-H P.O. Box 1268 Mount Vernon, OH 43050 or Tavaci School of Performing Arts 20715 Berry Rd. Mount Vernon, OH 43050, two organizations that support her grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday September 1, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Fischer Funeral Home in Danville, Ohio with calling hours one hour prior to the service. A private burial will be held at Workman Cemetery in Danville.
