Mount Vernon - Lois Nadine Thatcher, 83, formerly of Brinkhaven, died Wednesday January 2, 2013 at the Ohio Eastern Star Home.
She was born January 9, 1929 in Benton to Mast and Beluah (Mast) Kauffman. She was a graduate of Aultman Nursing School in Canton and Syracuse University in New York. She was a certified midwife, and worked as such on an Indian reservation in Arizona for seven years. She was also the former director of nursing at the Joel Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg. Lois married Charles "Jack" Thatcher on June 25, 1966. They were members of the Millersburg Mennonite Church.
Surviving is her husband; Jack of Brinkhaven, a sister; Geneva (Melvin) Martin of Pennsylvania, a brother; Elmo (Katherine) Kauffman of Walnut Creek, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister; Grace Lehman.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday January 5, 2013 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. Pastors Patrick and Christine Nafziger will officiate. Burial will follow in Workman Cemetery in Danville. Visiting will be one hour prior to the service.
