Lorie Shults

Danville – Loretta “Lorie” (McCullough) Shults, 65, passed away at home on July 31, 2025.

Lorie was born in Mount Vernon on October 22, 1959. She was the daughter of Cecil and Janet (Rollyson) McCullough, who both preceded her in death. In 1997, she married John Shults.

Lorie loved her dogs. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, reading, and history.

She is survived by her husband, John; her son, Justin Earl Smith, and daughters, Melissa Smith and Gretchen (Michael) Blanker; her brothers, Kenneth McCullogh of Danville, and Steven McCullough of Mt. Gilead; grandchildren, Cierra, Porsha, Streat and Mason McCullough all of Mount Vernon, and Kaylee and Ryan Ayers of Fredericktown; and a great grandchild, Coen Ayers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Kyle Ayers.

The family will hold a private service at St. Luke Cemetery.
