Marcella "Sally" Mickley

December 13, 1937 — March 5, 2011

DANVILLE - Marcella P. "Sally" Mickley, 73, of 28763 Mickley Road, Danville, OH, left this earth to be with our Heavenly Father on March 5th, 2011 following a brave battle with heart disease.

Sally was born December 13, 1937. She was the daughter of Alva F. & Pearl F. Didinger. She graduated from Glenmont High School where she was active as a varsity cheerleader, band member, class valedictorian and Football Homecoming Queen.

She married her husband, Floyd A. Mickley in 1956. They would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on April 14th of this year.

They were the proud parents of 11 children: Marsha (Lyle) Lyons, Rose Mickley, Patty Mickley, Pauline Mickley, Keith (Sherri) Mickley, Scott (Pam) Mickley, Gerard Mickley, Gary (Andrea) Mickley, Richard (Suzanne) Mickley, Frank Mickley, and Russell (Heidi) Mickley. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Toni Lyons, Ryan Sapp, and Julie, Brad, Eric, Jon (Jessica),Clayton, Amanda, Paige, Daniel, Hannah, Tyler, Joey and Kadence Mickley and 4 great-grandchildren, Levi & Landon Lyons, Charley & Kari Mickley and her 4 sisters, Anita(James) Carpenter, Leora(James) Weigand, Wanda (Roger) Kriner and Alfretta (Robert) Mohn and numerous nieces , nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews.

She was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church for 57 years and was active in the St. Luke's PCCW Group.. She was a retired postal mail carrier and spent her life helping her husband work on the family farm. She once said that the crop they were best at raising was "kids".

She was happiest when surrounded by her family. She will always be remembered for her happy smile, kind words of encouragement and sense of humor. She loved to plant flowers, feed the birds, ride around the farm with Floyd on their golf cart and they always took the family dog everywhere they went.
She loved to collect things and she also loved to attend ballgames and horse shows to support her kids and grandkids. It was not uncommon for Sally and Floyd to attend 3 or even 4 ballgames in one day.

She truly was the "World's Best Mom" and is now certainly one of Heaven's best and brightest angels. As her earthbound children shed tears of goodbye, her heavenly children welcome her home to the Kingdom of God with shouts of great joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Paul & Robert (Carol) Didinger and four children, Gerard, Pauline, Frank and Richard Mickley.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at the St. Luke Catholic Church in Danville, with Father F. Richard Snoke officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the church on Monday, March 7th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday.
