MT.VERNON- Margaret Mary "Babe" Mickley, 90, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, a resident of Whispering Hills Care Center, and formerly of Danville, passed away Friday, April 15, 2011 at the care center.
She was born April 8, 1921 in Glenmont to the late Harvey and Clara (Blanchard) Guenther. She married Eddie Mickley, Jr. on June 14, 1940. They celebrated their 60th anniversary before his death on Nov. 10, 2001. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, and she later worked ten years at Lakeview Haven Nursing Home, and ten years at Patented Products, both in Danville. She was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church and the P.C.C.W in Danville. She especially loved her late-nights spent with her girls playing cards.
She is survived by five daughters; Sandy Ridgeway, Kay Warren, Mary Jo (Chet) Looney, and Barb Kirk, all of Danville, and Joan (Steve) Workman of Howard, two sons; David (Melissa) Mickley of Mansfield, and Mike (Becky) Mickley of Mt. Vernon, twenty-one grandchildren, and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, David A. Mickley, two great-granddaughters; Merrick Grace Ewers & Alishia Viefhouse, one sister, six brothers, and a son-in-law, Bob Ridgeway.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2011 at the St. Luke Catholic Church in Danville with Father F. Richard Snoke officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to service time. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Activity Fund at Whispering Hills Care Center, in care of Cheryl Benson, 1614 Wooster Rd., Mt. Vernon, OH 43050.
Babe wanted to say a special "Thank You" to the staff of Whispering Hills Care Center for the love, care, and devotion they showed her over the last six months. Her family would also like to extend their thanks to the staff of Acclaim Hospice.
