Warsaw- Marian Rose Darr, 84, of 113 College St., died Thursday, November 6, 2008 at her residence.
She was born January 14, 1924 in Columbus to the late Charles E. and Caroline W. (Reisdorf) Elzey. She married Harvey Eugene Darr on August 2, 1953, whom preceded her in death on July 11, 1996. She was a 1942 graduate of South High School in Columbus, served in World War II in the Women's Army Corp. (W.A.C.), graduated from Capital University on June 12, 1950, was a member of the Warsaw Review Club and Warsaw Garden Club, attended the Warsaw United Methodist Church, and taught school for 30 years in the River View Local School District, retiring in 1987.
She is survived by a son, Jay (Rita) Darr of Coshocton, three daughters; Darlene (Tad) Johnson of Coshocton, Brenda Miller of Coshocton, and Mary Jo (Jerry) Goetz of Columbus, three grandsons; Craig, Justin, and Chris, eight step-grandchildren, two great-grandsons, Carter and Quinton, seventeen step-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a special neighbor, Ginny Lee.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by two brothers; Rev. Elmer Elzey and Rev. Donald Elzey.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2008 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with Rev. Ron Little officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Chapel Cemetery, with graveside military rites performed by the Coshocton Co. Joint Veterans Council. Calling hours are two hours prior to service time on Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
