        COSHOCTON- Marilyn Anne Griffis, age 79, of Coshocton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026.

       Born on November 12, 1946, in Los Angeles, California, Marilyn lived a life defined by compassion, service, dedication, and an unmistakable sense of humor. She was known for her quick wit, generous spirit, and unwavering commitment to helping others.

       Marilyn devoted much of her life to serving her community and supporting veterans and military families. Her leadership and volunteer efforts touched countless lives through her service as Exalted Ruler of the Ohio Elks, Head of Veteran Charity for the Elks Lodge and volunteered for the Blue Star Mothers. Her tireless dedication to charitable causes reflected her deep appreciation for those who served our country and her belief in giving back to the community she loved.

       Throughout her professional life, Marilyn pursued a variety of successful endeavors. She worked as a real estate agent and, alongside her mother, Margaret Medvetz, co-owned a coffee shop and a Hallmark store. She cherished the relationships she built with customers and friends through these ventures. A Certified Gemologist, she combined her entrepreneurial spirit with a deep appreciation for beauty, artistry, and craftsmanship.

       Marilyn was preceded in death by her first husband, Conrad Bailey; her brother, John Medvetz; and her beloved husband, Gywnn William Griffis.

       She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her son, James Bailey, and daughter-in-law, Lisa Bailey; her siblings, Katherine Poehlmann, Michael Medvetz (Lynda), and Mary Medvetz Lichty (Peter); her beloved nephews, a niece and her grandchildren; as well as many dear friends, fellow volunteers, and members of the organizations she served so faithfully.

       Marilyn's legacy is one of kindness, leadership, and selfless service. She had a remarkable ability to make people laugh, feel welcome, and know they were valued. Whether volunteering for a worthy cause, supporting veterans, sharing stories with friends, or spending time with family, she brought warmth and joy to those around her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

       In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a military or Veterans charity of your choice in Marilyn's honor.
