WARSAW- Maro Johnson Emerson, 92, of Spring Mt. Road, died Sunday Dec. 9, 2012 at his residence.
He was born April 3, 1920 in Coshocton Co. to the late Harry and Lola (Ross) Emerson. He was a 1938 graduate of West Lafayette High School, and he served in the U.S. Army during WWII, receiving a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. On Oct. 10, 1941 he married Gwendolyn Laura "Ging" (Davis) Emerson, who preceded him in death on Jan. 26, 2011. He was an auto body repairman for Stewart Auto Body, and later owned and operated Emerson Auto Body, and was widely regarded as the "best auto body man around." He later went on to work for the Clow Water Systems Co., retiring in 1985. He was a 50+ year member of the Warsaw Masonic Lodge #255, and in his later years he enjoyed gardening at home.
He is survived by four sons; Richard (Barb) Emerson of Warsaw, Dave (Verna) Emerson of Warsaw, Larry (Carolyn) Emerson of Coshocton, and John (Becky) Emerson of Coshocton, a daughter, Eileen (Bill) Darr of Newcomerstown, seventeen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren, as well as two sisters-in-law; Helen Conrad and Eileen (Sonny Davis) Mullet, both of Coshocton.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson and two brothers; Bill & Everett Emerson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 12, 2012 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with Rev. Richard King and Pastor Ralph Johnson officiating, and a Masonic service by the Warsaw Masonic Lodge #255. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery, with graveside military rites performed by the Coshocton Co. Joint Veterans Council.
