Mary B. Duling

COSHOCTON- Mary Burger Duling, 90, a 63-year resident of Canal Lewisville, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010, in the emergency room of the Coshocton County Memorial Hospital after a six-week illness.

She was born June 10, 1920, near Baltic, Ohio to the late Warren N. and M. Edna (Lorenz) Burger. She married Edwin Tracy Duling on July 9, 1941, during his time at Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg, MS; he preceded her in death on March 11, 1994.


Mary is survived by a son, Dr. Edward B. (Ed) Duling of Bowling Green, a daughter, Nancy (Mike) Mahon of the South America Mission/Samair, in Pucallpa, Peru, two grandchildren, Annette Mary and Daniel Edwin Mahon, a sister, Ida Mae (Harold) Smith of Canton, and several sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and village friends.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Opal Burger (Tristano) Goodall, and four brothers, Noble, Henry, Garland and David Burger.

Mary was a 1938 graduate of Baltic High School, and came to Coshocton later that year to attend Coshocton Business School and keep house for Mr. and Mrs. Luman (Stella) Leonard at 804 Chestnut. Before devoting herself to her home and family, she worked as a secretary in the specialty advertising industry at Novelty Advertising and the American Art works as well as at The Coshocton Firestone plant and State Farm Insurance in Little Rock, AR.

She was a member of the Canal Lewisville United Methodist Church where she served on the membership and memorial committees, and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, the former Women's Auxiliary of the N. Tuscarawas Fire Station (WANTS), and was a former member of the VFW 1330 Auxiliary.


Services will be held at the Canal Lewisville UMC, Coshocton (Canal Lewisville), on Saturday, November 27 at noon with Revs. James Macdonald and John Richard Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in the Canal Lewisville cemetery across from her home. Visitation will be at the church from 5-8 PM Friday evening, and from 10 AM until time of services Saturday.
