Warsaw- Mary Katherine Lawrence, 87, of 25765 TR 8, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at the Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
She was born Oct. 18, 1920 in Spring Mountain to her step-father, Gifford L. Poorman, and mother, Marie Emma (Hamer) Poorman. She was raised by her grandparents; Frank & Flora Hamer. She married Donald F. Lawrence on Nov. 8, 1941, whom preceded her in death on March 18, 1971. She was a 1940 graduate of Warsaw High School, and worked at Firestone Tire in her younger years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, worked in the Art Hall at the Coshocton Co. Fair for 50 years, and was a member of the former St. Rose Catholic Church in Spring Mountain.
She is survived by three sons; Tom (Janet) Lawrence, Rusty (Sandra) Lawrence, and Ronnie Lawrence, all of Warsaw, two daughters; Tamie (Craig) Daugherty, and Sandra (Gary) Zimmer, both of Warsaw, ten grandchildren; Steve Lawrence, Larry Anderson, Donnie Lawrence, Kelly (Travis) Zimmer, Tonya (Dave) Rhodes, Sheila (Robert) Bickel, Brian (Lisa) Daugherty, Tony (Stacy) Daugherty, R.D. (Melissa) Mobley, and Zip Zimmer, several great-grandchildren, two sisters; Kay (Troy) Stamper of Keene, and Marquerite (Donis) Gallion of Clark, three brothers; Roger (Cara) Poorman of Nellie, Kenny (Pat) Poorman of Coshocton, and Donald (JoAnn) Poorman of Coshocton, several nieces and nephews, a sister-in-law, Judy Poorman Ogle of Coshocton, and a brother-in-law, Bill Collins of Coshocton.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by two sons; Don & Larry Lawrence, her mother, Marie (Hamer) Poorman, grandmother, Flora Hamer, four brothers; Larry, Allen, Gene, & Carrol Poorman, two sisters; Adalaide Poorman and Martha Collins, a sister-in-law, Barb Poorman, and three grandchildren; Heida Jo, Larry Joe, and Danny Scott.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2008 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with Pastor Tim Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Mountain Cemetery. Calling hours are from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 1st at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Columbus, 240 Parsons Ave., Columbus, OH 43215.
