Nora M. Frazee

January 1, 1949 — December 2, 2023

Howard, Ohio

HOWARD – Nora Mae Frazee, 74, died Saturday, December 2, 2023 at her residence.

She was born January 1, 1949 in Mount Vernon to the late Albert William Porter, Jr. and Hazel Marie (Wolf) Porter Culbertson.

She was a member of the Community Christian Fellowship Church of Gambier.  She loved decorating, cooking, baking, visiting greenhouses and buying flowers every spring, and shopping with her daughter and granddaughter.

Nora was the oldest of nine children and learned responsibility at an early age.  She was a big help to her mother.  Her siblings looked up to her and would attest to how much she looks and sound like Mom.

Nora married her sweetheart Ed Frazee in her teens.  She was a stay at home Mom for her children, Ed Jr. & Donna.  Later they were blessed with their granddaughter, Brooke who was an absolute joy for them.  In recent years they enjoyed traveling to Mexico to visit Brooke.

Nora trusted Jesus Christ as her Savior as a young mother.  The Lord refined many of the wonderful qualities that she already possessed.  She joined Christian Women’s Club and traveled to give her testimony regarding what Jesus had done for her.  She and Ed were faithful church members and enjoyed sweet fellowship with many people.  They served others with love and compassion.  She always had a listening ear to anyone’s troubles, joys, or sorrows.  She was a faithful prayer warrior and was sought out often by people with needs.

Nora later worked at K-Mart, Interchurch Social Services, Longaberger, and the Nazarene College cafeteria where she was fondly known as the ‘Soup Nazi”.

She has been served well by Gentiva Hospice.  Nora and her family are grateful for the many kind kindnesses expressed to them through her illness.  Nora loved her family and friends, but in the end she said she wanted heaven over healing.

Nora is survived by her husband, Edward L. Frazee, whom she married June 19, 1965.  Also her son, Edward L. Frazee, Jr. of Danville, daughter, Donna Marie (Kevin) Mickley of Mount Vernon, & granddaughter, Brooke (Leonel) Murphy de Silva of Sayulita, Mexico.  Sisters, Elizabeth (Charlie) Mantel of Bladensburg, Nancy (Bob) Bywaters of Mount Vernon, Jackie (Jim) Schonauer of Fredericktown, Tina Calkins of Mount Vernon, & Bernice Salmons of Mount Vernon.  Brothers, Charlie (Camille) Culbertson & John Culbertson of Mount Vernon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step father, Jack Culbertson, a sister, Sally Culbertson and half sister, Rhonda Weeks.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. at the Community Christian Fellowship Church at Gambier where a memorial service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Bob Pelfrey officiating.
