Warsaw- Emma Norella Walker, 89, a resident of Autumn Health Care in Coshocton, and formerly of Warsaw, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009 at the care center.
She was born July 29, 1920 in Roscoe to the late Charles and Esther (LeRetilley) Giffen. She married Dr. James Walker on Dec. 25, 1942, whom preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 2000. She was a 1938 graduate of Warsaw High School, a member of the Warsaw United Methodist Church, a 50+ year member of the Ohio Eastern Star, a member of the former Warsaw Lioness Club, the Warsaw Business Association, the Extension Homemakers Club, the Coshocton Co. Handicap Society, and the Roscoe Village Foundation.
She is survived by her daughter, Terry L. Walker of Sacramento, CA, her son, James G. Walker of Chillicothe, a grandson, James Joe Walker of Warsaw, Joe's mother, Christina Walker of Columbus, a sister, Wynona (Charles) Nitschke of Tappen Lake, and seven nieces; Aleta Nitschke, Tama Drenski, Lisa Fultz, Charla Bissell, Barbara Hall, Marjorie Harter, and Maryann Topp.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
A public memorial service will be held from 3:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009 at the Warsaw U.M.C. with Rev. Ron Little officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice, Health Services of Coshocton, P.O. Box 1284, Coshocton, OH 43812 or to the Coshocton Co. Handicap Society, 1005 Main St., Coshocton, OH 43812.
A private burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. this Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009 at the Valley View Cemetery in Warsaw. The Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw is handling arrangements.
