Coshocton, OH- Norma Jean Stanfield, 87, of Hillsdale Dr., and formerly of Punta Gorda, FL, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009 at Autumn Healthcare of Coshocton.
She was born Sept. 12, 1922 in Dover to the late Donald T. and Bessie E. (Hughs) Grimm. She was a 1940 graduate of Coshocton High School. She moved to Punta Gorda, FL from Willard, OH in 1980. She was of the Unitarian / Universalist faith. She served on the Council of Intergovernmental Relations representing Charlotte County, FL. She was also on the Advisory Committee of the Charlotte Co. Parks and Recreation Board. She was also a past-President of the South Punta Gorda Heights Civic Association. She also enjoyed reading and writing poetry.
She is survived by her daughter, Tina (Jim) Dobson of Coshocton, OH, her son, Richard (Laura) Hoop of Coshocton, OH, three stepsons; Ron Stanfield of Chicago, IL, Jerry Stanfield of Hemphill, TX and Ric Stanfield of San Bernardino, CA, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a brother, Richard (Phyllis) Grimm of Fredericktown, OH.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gehrett Stanfield.
There will be no memorial services. Memorial contributions may be made in Norma's name to the Animal Welfare League, 3519 Drance St., Port Charlotte, FL 336980-2407.
