       Danville – Patty Sue (Riley) Durbin, age 85, died Monday July 6, 2026 at Danbury Senior Living in Mount Vernon.

       She was born December 18, 1940, in Mount Vernon, a daughter of the late Hervie K. and Lenore (Miller) Riley. She was a member of the 1958 class of Danville High School, and also graduated from the Mt. Vernon Business School, Ohio School of Consumer Credit, Ohio School of Banking, and Financial Planning from Franklin University. She also completed numerous courses through the American Institute of Banking.

       Pat worked for Turner, Burris, and Wolfe public accounts from 1958 until 1964. She joined First Knox National Bank in 1966 and served as bookkeeper, secretary, deposit operations officer, assistant manager, and manager at the Danville office, and AVP in the mortgage loan department in Mount Vernon. She retired from First Knox after 40 years of service. One of her proudest moments after retirement was when an award was named after her (the Patty S. Durbin Lifetime Achievement Award), and was presented each year at First Knox National Bank’s annual employee banquet to a deserving employee.

       Pat lived in Danville all her life. She married John Durbin on December 20, 1958. She was a lifelong member of the Danville United Methodist Church, and held various positions during her lifetime. She was also a member of the Kokosing Chapter #236 Order of the Eastern Star. Pat’s favorite pastimes were reading and working in her flower garden. Her grandsons and great grandsons were they joys of her life.

       In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John; and brother, Larry (Mahala) Riley.

       She is survived by her son, J. Mitchell (Karen) Durbin of Danville, daughter, A. Christine (Neil) Williams of Howard; 3 grandsons, Tyler (Caroline) Durbin of Granville, and Jared Nyhart (Ben Clos) of Columbus, and Russell Williams of New Albany; great grandsons, Boone and River Durbin; and several nieces and nephews.

       A funeral service will take place at the Danville United Methodist Church, 408 S. Market St., at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2026. Rev. Bob Alexander will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will follow in Workman Cemetery in Danville.

       Memorial donations can be made in Pat’s name to the Danville United Methodist Church, PO Box 36, or to Danville Athletic Boosters, c/o Lanna Staats – Treasurer 28388 Jelloway Rd. Danville, OH 43014. The family would like to thank the staffs of Danbury Senior Living and Care 360 Hospice.
