HOWARD - Paul Melvin Smith, 74, of Coshocton Road died Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born Aug. 14, 1937 in Danville to the late John and Loretta (Blubaugh) Smith.
He was retired from the Knox County Highway Dept. A member of the Army National Guard and attended the Howard United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy L. "Dottie" (Atherton) Smith, who he married Oct. 19, 1957. Also surviving is a daughter, Louise Witzky of Gambier. A granddaughter, Cheyenne Campos of Gambier. A son-in-law, Oscar Antonio Campos Sr. of Gambier. Five sisters, Cathey (Larry) Mohler of Killbuck, Sharon Smith of Danville, Marsha Waters of Fredericktown, Linda Gill of Howard, and Pat Frazee of Mount Vernon. Two brothers, Victor Smith of Loudonville and Marvin Smith of Danville. And special friend, Jim (Jerry) Danison of Danville.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Smith and two sisters, Doris & Mildred Smith.
There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 7, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Howard United Methodist Church with Pastor Lee Cubie officiating.
