Phillip Raymond Hoffman

Howard - Phillip Raymond Hoffman, 90, passed away Wednesday July 1, 2015 at his residence.

He was born in Minneapolis, MN on June 25, 1925 to Phillip L. and Luella (Laforais) Hoffman. In 1942, he enlisted in the Marine Corps. where he served for 3 years in the South Pacific, earning 2 Purple Hearts. He married Elizabeth Kelsey on June 23, 1948.

He worked 35 years for Vermont American in Newark, and was a member of the St. Luke Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus. He loved golf, Nascar, flower gardening, and traveling.

Surviving is his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Hoffman, a daughter, Alana (Dana) Leavitt, a son, Todd Hoffman, 5 grandchildren; Thomas (Betty) Leavitt, Tanya Leavitt, Treana (Jason) Tom, Jacob (Glenda) Leavitt, and Christine Leavitt, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and faithful companion "Duke".

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Anita Smith and Elaine Trebilcock, and an infant brother.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday July 6, 2015 at the St. Luke Catholic Church in Danville. Father Vincent Nguyen will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Luke Cemetery, where the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will perform military honors. Calling hours will be at the church from 2-5 on Sunday.
