MILLWOOD- Phyllis Lorayne (Petry) Humbert, 88, of Coshocton Rd. and a resident of Millwood for 68 years, passed away Friday Sept. 13, 2013 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus after a short illness.
She was born June 12, 1925 in Perrysville to the late Bird and Iva Leah (Gilmore) Petry. She was the loving wife for nearly 69 years of LeMoyne Humbert, whom she married Oct. 31, 1944. LeMoyne preceded Phyllis in death on March 3, 2005. She was a 1943 graduate of Howard High School. She served the war effort in Dayton, making aircraft parts for the United States during WWII. She was a former secretary at The Timken Co., and a devoted homemaker. She took great pride in her ability to provide for her family through sewing, cooking, and gardening. She was a member of the former Millwood Presbyterian Church, from 1945 until its closing, where she was the Session Clerk and a Sunday school teacher for many years.
She is survived by her daughter, Josephine (Stephen) Humbert-Sabo, a grandson, David Sabo, and a granddaughter, Avril (Josh) Sabo Martinez, all of Fayetteville, AR, and two nephews; Jerry Branstool, and Larry Branstool of California.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers; Edward & Gerald Petry, and a sister, LaVawn Branstool.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday Sept. 17, 2013 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville with Pastor Tom Orr officiating. Burial will follow in Millwood Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
