Ray Williams

Raymond Lee Williams, age 78, passed away at the Ohio State University Medical Center on Monday, October 27, 2025.

Ray was born on Christmas Day, 1946, in Mount Vernon. He was the son of the late Arlene May (Byall) and Paul Delmar Williams. On September 17, 1966, he married Barbara S. Dunagan, who preceded him in death on February 6, 2016. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Arlan and Eudora, who helped raise him; and brothers-in-law, David Dunagan and Wade Gillespie.

Ray worked for 46 years at Knerr Tire, and served as a former Knox County Fair Board member, Jefferson Township Trustee, and 4H advisor. He had been attending Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, the Loudonville American legion, and also any euchre game within a 20-mile radius.

He is survived by his daughter, Jackie (Donald) Marofsky of Centerburg, and son, Lee Williams of Mount Vernon; a granddaughter, Alyxis (Alek) Lambert; great granddaughter, Braelynn Lambert; sister, Sandy O'Dell of Mount Vernon; uncle, Leroy Byall; and sisters-in-law, Jill Gillespie and Sue Dunagan, along with many nieces and nephews.

A viewing will take place at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville on Sunday afternoon, November 2, from 2-4:00, with a memorial service to follow. Rev. David Havens will officiate.
