Raymond K. Bell

MT. VERNON- Raymond Kimmel Bell, 84, passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023 at Knox Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

He was born Dec. 17, 1938 in Sipesville, PA to the late Elmer Griffith and Ethel Mae (Kimmel) Bell. After graduating from Danville High School in 1956, he served in the US Marine Corp from August 1956 to July 1958.

Raymond was a devout Christian and a member of North Bend Church of the Brethren. He was also a member of the Knox Co. Archaeological Society. He had an adventurous spirit. At one time he packed up and moved the family to Seattle, WA where they lived for a number of years before returning to Ohio. He loved to hunt, fish, and camp, and enjoyed going to the beach.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn (Banbury) Bell of Mt. Vernon, whom he married Feb. 1, 1959; four children, Laura (Allan) Szenas of Marathon, FL, Scott (Karen) Bell of Howard, Michael Bell of San Antonio, TX, and Shannon (John) Wilkerson of Troy; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Leslie, Kyle, Jordan, Fallon, Alexis, Eleanore, Hope, Dani, Lindsey, Cy, Lain, Payson, and Elijah; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sarah Bosko of San Antonio, TX, and Phyllis (Pete) Durbin of Danville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Bell.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2023 at Fischer Funeral Home in Danville, with Pastor Patrick Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Workman Cemetery, with graveside military rites performed by the Knox Co. Veterans Council Honor Guard. Visitation is Sunday, Dec. 3rd from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
