Richard E. Dusthimer

Tucson, AZ- Richard E. Dusthimer, 69, left this life Feb. 1, 2016 at the Banner University Medical Center following seven weeks in the Tucson Veterans Hospital.

He was born Feb. 1, 1947 in Newark City Hospital, son of Robert and Wroena (Hinds) Dusthimer. The family moved to Danville in July 1953. Richard attended Danville Schools, graduating in 1965. He worked at Jarvis B. Webb Co. until he entered the U.S. Army in June 1966. He was discharged from Fort Dix, NJ in June 1968. He took college classes at the OSU Branch in Newark and at the University of Toledo.

Employed by Toledo Bell Telephone; moved to Tamp St. Petersburg area in Florida where he worked as a bank teller, and several years Barneys Motorcycle and Marine. He returned to Danville and managed Mama’s Pizza and was Food and Beverage manager at the Mohican Lodge. Due to health issues he moved to Arizona in April of 2011.

Richard was a member of the Danville United Methodist Church, and sang in the church choir. He also sang in the community Christmas Cantatas held in the Memorial Theater. He was a member of Ohio Masonic Lodge #199, F&M, Bladensburg; Knox Chapter #236 O.E.S., Mount Vernon; was serving as Worthy Patron of Arizona Chapter #2, O.E.S., Tucson, AZ. He was also active in the Grand Chapters of Ohio and of Arizona. He was honored with the appointment of the Grand Representative of Bolivia in Arizona.

He is survived by his mother, a brother, David (Susan) Dusthimer of Danville, a nephew, Evan Dusthimer of Moffat, CO, a niece, Lelia Dusthimer, who is attending Kenyon College. Also survived by an aunt Miriam (Burton) Shurlow, Wayne, MI, an uncle, Francis Hinds of West Lafayette, several cousins and lots of friends, including special ones with whom he worked, Robert Seymour & Marshall Kidder.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert (2005), paternal and maternal grandparents, and aunts Grace Hinds and Rita (Francis) Hinds.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016 at the Danville United Methodist Church with Revs. Bob Alexander & Tom Orr officiating. A private burial will follow at a later date in Workman Cemetery. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.
