WARSAW - Richard 'Dick' Glenn Jochem, 81, formerly of Warsaw, joined his loving wife in Heaven early Saturday morning, Jan. 10, 2009 at the Coshocton County Memorial Hospital.
He was born on October 2nd 1927 to the late Fred and Eva (Row) Jochem in Gary, IN. On April 23rd, 1949, he married Donna Phiscator, who preceded him in death on January 21, 2001. Dick was in the Army and retired from Buckeye Fabric. He was an avid member of the Big Brothers Big Sisters and found great joy in being Santa Claus during the Christmas season. In 1990, together with his beloved wife, Dick founded the Christmas Love program, helping to serve the community so that many area families would be able to share in the joys of the season.
He is survived by three children, Donald (Barb) Jochem of Alliance, Debra Stanton of Columbus, and Dianne (Jay) Miller of Killbuck; nine grandchildren, Melissa (Steve) Stoneking, P.J. Bird, Kyle (Jody) Stanton, Crystal Pugh, Jessica Stanton, Sunny Patterson, Travis (Shelly) Stanton, Mandy Strong, and Bobby Jochem; and 21 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Geraldine Much of Michigan.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Gerald (Betty) Jochem.
A memorial service to celebrate Dick's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2009 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw.
